SPCA for Monterey County offering adoption special for Black Friday
A special Black Friday adoption took place today at the Monterey County SPCA.
You got to choose the adoption fee. The SPCA says many of the more than adopters chose to pay the full adoption fee.
Over 77 animals were up for adoption today, including dogs, cats and hamsters.
KION spoke to some visitors who went home with a new four-legged friend.
“As soon as I walked in she went right up to me and started playing with me,” Philip Wardro said. “When I was a kid I had a dog named duchess so it was perfect.”
“I think we’re going to go ahead and get Penelope,” Mickey Rose said. “I think she’s going to be a good fit for the family.”
The Monterey County SPCA has rescued dozens of animals from shelters in Butte County in the last few weeks, and are looking to take on more.
“Any adoptions we have today any extra space we make available we’re reaching out to butte county to see if they need any assistance,” SPCA Director of Community Outreach Beth Brookhouser said.
This time of year is popular for pet adoptions at the SPCA.
“It can be a great time to take a pet home,” Brookhouser said. “Kids are home from school. Parents are home from work. You have a lot of time to spend with new pets.”
The special Black Friday adoption took place from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The SPCA offers adoption’s all year around.
