Update on dog found inside diaper box in Monterey
UPDATE: 11/20/2018 2:22 p.m. A dog was found inside of a taped-up diaper box at 900 Cass Street, on Monday.
A woman walking by, said the box looked suspicious, she decided to look inside.
The terrier mix was immediately taken to the SPCA in Monterey County and was severely dehydrated and extremely dirty.
Today, KION spoke with the SPCA to see how Linus, named by the SPCA, is doing.
The SPCA said, Linus was very lethargic when he first came in but over the past day he has “pepped up” as he’s gotten more comfortable in the new environment.
Veterinarians at the SPCA said Linus was clearly not well taken care of. He has internal parasites and his weight is very low.
Linus’ fur is very matted and dirty, and the SPCA says the first priority is to groom him once it won’t be painful for the dog.
There is already a foster home lined-up for the one or two-year-old dog, and he is expected to join them by the end of the week.
The SPCA says it will still be a while until Linus is ready to be adopted.
KION’s Drew Andre will speak with the woman who rescued Linus at 6 p.m. on News Channel 5,46.
