Santa Cruz County votes to ban single use toiletry bottles at hotels
Hotels in the unincorporated area of Santa Cruz will no longer be able to provide guests with single use shampoo and conditioner bottles.
A proposed ordinance was approved today calling for the hospitality industry to make the switch to bulk size dispensers, rather than disposable bottles.
Save Our Shores, says this will reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in the ocean tremendously.
Some hotels have already made that switch, but others will be required to do so in the next year or two.
According to County officials Santa Cruz is the first county to ban this use in the hospitality industry.
