Election Day: How and where to vote

After months of campaigning, Election Day has finally arrived.

Today’s midterm elections will decide every seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, along with a number of important federal, state and local races.

In California, there are 11 statewide ballot measures, ranging from the gas tax to daylight saving time.

Central Coast voters will fill seats in the state senate and assembly, and decide local races, including a rent control initiative in Santa Cruz, public ownership of the Monterey Peninsula’s water system, and limits on short term rentals in Pacific Grove.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. tonight.

Mail-in ballots must be postmarked today and arrive at elections offices by November 9. Voters who failed to register on time can cast a provisional ballot today at their local elections office.
