Spooky billboard along Highway 101 near Prunedale has commuters chatting

A spooky billboard off Highway 101 has been catching the eye of drivers, lately. This sign lies 2 miles north of Prunedale and it’s odd message is distracting drivers.

After a viewer reached out to us with concerns about the signs context, we began to investigate. The sign led us to the company’s website, which you can find here. At the top of the website’s home page is a bizarre video. Below it, you can order up on of “Bob’s” signature ouija boards.

The website said that “Bob” was a suspected serial murderer. They added that “Bob” created the board himself in an effort to speak to his victims. The claimed murderer’s great nephew referred to “Bob” as the “incarnate of evil on earth.”

One may wonder how a sign like this ended up in Prunedale.

Roadside advertisements are regulated by Cal Trans. Cal Trans said that this billboard, like any other, applied for an advertising license and permit. They said signs get their stamp of approval as long as they follow a list of regulations. One of which restricts the use of any word or image considered to be obscene, indecent, or immoral.

“It’s about the almighty dollar. Somebody paid for it. They put it on the air. They put in on the radio. They’ll put it on a billboard,” Cindy Weigel, a Highway 101 commuter.

For now, drivers will pass and may be reminded of the story behind it.

If you dare, take a drive down the 101 to see the sign. You can’t miss it!
