Free housing forum in Monterey County ahead of Election Day

United Way Monterey County and Monterey Bay Economic Partnership are hosting a housing forum in downtown Monterey ahead of the Midterm Elections.

According to UWMC, the forum will include a group of panelists talking about several propositions and the impact to Monterey County.

They will focus on Proposition One, the Veterans and Affordable Housing Act which will provide $4 billion for low income and workforce housing statewide. The panel will also discuss Prop Two, housing support for people with serious mental illness who or homeless or at risk of becoming homeless as well as other elements of affordability addressed through Proposition 5 and Prop 10 which address rent control.

“Communities throughout California are struggling to maintain an adequate supply of housing of all types. The issues are complex and require multiple approaches to address them. UWMC is committed to bringing our community together to learn and inspire action towards real solutions,” said Katy Castagna, President and CEO of United Way Monterey County.

The forum is free and is being held on Monday, October 29th from 6-8:00 p.m. at San Carlos Hall on Church Street.
