Salinas man shoots self in leg, gets arrested
A Salinas man taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound was arrested after investigators discovered he shot himself.
Salinas police officers responded to a report of a victim of a gunshot wound at Natividad around 4:45 a.m. Thursday.
29-year-old Alexandro Llamas was dropped off at the hospital just before the 911 call was made.
A short time after, officers stopped a white Cadillac CTS at San Luis & Front St.
“The female driver told officers she had just dropped off someone at Natividad Medical Center who had been shot,” said SPD.
Inside Llamas car, officers found hundreds of rounds of ammunition, meth amphetamines, and a meth pipe.
Officers went to the hospital to talk to Llamas, but said he was not going to cooperate with the investigation and he refused to answer questions regarding the shooting.
Investigators determined that Llamas had shot himself through his upper thigh.
Llamas had a felony warrant for failure to appear on a previous gun charge back in Sept. He was arrested after being treated and released.
Llamas was booked into Monterey County Jail for the outstanding warrant, negligent discharge of a firearm and possession of meth.
