Drunk driver travels on wrong side of hwy kills Gonzales man
UPDATE: A drunk driver drove on the wrong side of a Salinas highway and caused a four car accident, killing a 68-year-old man.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 44-year-old Luciano R. Medina of Salinas, was driving northbound on Highway 101, in a southbound lane, and crashed his Chevy Silverado head on into a 2004 Nissan Frontier.
The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday, just north of Spence Road.
The driver of the Nissan died from his injuries. The 68-year-old man has been identified as Raymundo Navarro of Gonzales.
A Honda Odyssey was struck on the right side and a BMW was struck on it’s front end.
Medina suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Natividad.
Medina was arrested at the scene for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and remains in police custody at Natividad.
The crash is still under investigation.

According to the CHP, the Southbound lanes of Highway 101 are closed.
Multiple cars may be involved. The CHP told KION one person was killed.
