Unlicensed drunk driver involved in hit-and-run with injuries in Salinas

An unlicensed drunk driver was involved in a hit-and-run in Salinas that injured at least two people.

According to Salinas Police, the first incident occurred at Market Street and Carr Avenue just before 10 a.m. Monday. The victims involved sustained injuries to their neck and back.

It was reported that witnesses followed the driver, 44-year-old Florencio Maldonado after the first collision. Maldonado didn’t stop there, instead he collided with a parked car at Parkway and Eucalyptus Drive.

Once SPD officers arrived they said Maldonado had obvious signs of intoxication.

Maldonado was arrested and found to be drunk with a blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit. He was booked into the Monterey County Jail.
