Presidio of Monterey investigates loud noise
The Presidio of Monterey is investigating reports of a loud noise near the army installation.
Early reports suggested that a possible active shooter could be on campus of the Defense Language Institute and a shelter in place was initiated.
A man inside the campus library told KION he heard multiple bangs and an ambulance. The library doors were locked and the lights were shut off.
A spokesman said the noise was heard near the Presidio’s “Tin Barn” building around 10:15 a.m. Friday.
The noise was determined to have come from outside the campus.
The shelter in place was lifted and officials said there is no active shooter and no further threats.
