Soledad police dog gets new body armor

A Soledad K9 has some new body armor thanks to a non-profit organization.

The Soledad Police Department said their K9 “Huro” got a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a donation from the non-profit Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

The vest was sponsored by the Hausman Family Foundation and embroidered with the sentiment “Gifted by the Hausman Family Foundation.”

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a charity based in East Taunton, MA.

Since its inception, it has provided over 3,100 protective vests in 50 states through private and corporate donations worth $5.7 million

The program is open to dogs with law enforcement or related agencies in the United States who are certified and at least 20 months old. New K9 graduates and K9s with expired vests are also eligible.
