Home invasion in a quiet Prunedale neighborhood
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect involved in a home invasion in Prunedale.
The Monterey County Sherrif’s Office says that this wasn’t the pair’s first stop. The two were first reported in Las Lomas, Wednesday morning. The police stopped them on Fallen Leaf Lane around 10:30 a.m., Wednesday.
Resident, Robert Deroock, told KION he woke up to use the bathroom and spotted two suspicious men outside his house near the garage.
After confronting the men, the resident said the burglars tried to make up a story before one ran off.
After a neighbor called 911, police took one of the suspect’s, a minor, into custody. The other escaped after hoping over a fence. They are currently searching for the suspect, described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, wearing a blue polo shirt, dark pants, black baseball cap with gold writing on it.
The CHP helicopter as well as a K-9 assisted in the search, this morning.
Neighbor, Jim Thompson, whose wife made the 911 call, said their street hasn’t seen this kind of action in years. “Nothing happens up here. It’s a quiet, quiet neighborhood,” said Thompson.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office says that both suspects could be facing felony burglary charges.
