Suspicious Santa Cruz fire under investigation
A Santa Cruz Police officer helped stop a fire in front of a car rental office.
According to police, Officer Vasquez spotted the fire just before midnight Tuesday, September 25th and reported it to dispatch.
Police said the fire started in the hedge in front of the Hertz rental car office on Center Street.
Santa Cruz firefighters then quickly put out the fire and started talking to witnesses.
Investigators said the fire is being deemed suspicious because there was no reason for the shrubbery to catch fire.
Investigators are still trying to figure out how it started.
