Police looking for four suspects after armed robbery

UPDATE 9/23/18 8:17 p.m. Nearly 24 hours later, customers line up at the ATM.

Police are looking for four suspects after an armed robbery, Saturday afternoon.

It happened just before 4 p.m. at the Chase Bank at the 800 block of E. Alisal Street.

The four men were armed wearing dark clothes covering their faces.

They had employees and customers get on the floor during the robbery.

Salinas Police responded within minutes, but the suspects got away with an unknown amount of cash.

Sunday afternoon, customers lined up at the bank’s ATM. Customer, Marco Valencia, said he comes to this ATM almost every day before work.

“The area needs more security,” said Valencia.

Customer, Maribel Avalos, said the incident concerns her. “It worries me. We don’t know what could happen, even out here,” said Avalos.

This wasn’t the first time the location has been targeted. Detectives said, back in January, a man held up the bank at gunpoint. This incident is one of the several that have take place over the past year.

If you have any information about the robbery, you are asked to call Detective Derek Gibson at 831-758-7442.
