Motorcyclist dies in Highway 156 hit-and-run crash

UPDATE: 9/24/2018 11:39 a.m. – A man was killed after being ejected from his motorcycle and run over by a car on a highway in San Benito County.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. Sunday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was driving eastbound on Highway 156, just east of Union Road, when he lost control, overturned and landed in the lane of oncoming traffic.

A car struck the motorcyclist and took off before emergency personnel arrived.

CHP said the car was last seen driving westbound on Highway 156 and was described as a dark-colored sedan or SUV.

It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision.

One person is dead after a crash involving a car and motorcycle in Hollister.

According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened at 8:15 p.m. on State Route 156 east of Union Road.

Traffic is being diverted on westbound 156.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
