Santa Cruz Police investigating “false report” of emergency
Santa Cruz Police said a call about a man threatening people in a house with a gun turned out to be a false report.
The incident temporarily closed off Ocean Street late Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, as officers responded they heard screaming coming from inside a house. Officers used a loud speaker to order the people inside to come out. After they did, officers went in and made sure no one else was inside.
Police said during the initial investigation, officers believe the 911 call was false. One person was placed on a mental hold.
The Santa Cruz Police Department is now investigating this as a false report of an emergency.
