Red flag warning issued for Santa Cruz Mountains
The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning in the Santa Cruz Mountains for Wednesday night through Thursday afternoon due to hot dry and windy conditions.
The warning is in effect from 11 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday for gusty offshore winds up to 35 mph and low humidity, said the NWS.
The most hazardous conditions are expected in the North Bay Mountains, East Bay Hills, Diablo Range and the Santa Cruz Mountains.
“Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended,” NWS said.
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly.
