Santa Cruz County Clerk urges voters to verify DMV voter registration

First it was long wait times, now the California Department of Motor Vehicles is once again under fire for making errors on 23,000 voter registration applications.

The DMV said the mistakes happened between April 23 and August 5.

Santa Cruz County said 210 voters in the county may have had their voter preferences incorrectly entered. They are advising residents to verify their voter registration information online.

“It’s unfortunate this error has occurred,” County Clerk Gail Pellerin said. “But the good news is, in California, there are easy remedies to voter registration problems.”

The DMV said it’s making software updates and providing additional employee training to make sure the errors do not happen again.

Voters who need to re-register to vote can do so online at https://registertovote.ca.gov//
