Sun Street addiction services expands to King City
Sun Street Centers is expanding its addiction services in Monterey County.
The organization is opening a new facility on Broadway Street in King City.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday at noon following speakers and tours.
King City is 47 miles from the nearest substance abuse facility, so the expansion fills a need in the area.
“There is no substance abuse treatment services here in south county. And there haven’t been since the beginning. You have to travel to Salinas or the peninsula and a lot of people can’t do that they work or don’t have transportation. So there is a huge group of unmet need down here,” said Sun Street Centers CEO, Anna Foglia.
The new facility will have residential treatment for both men and women as well as outpatient services.
The organization is partnering with Monterey County Behavioral Health and the Board of State Community Corrections on the project.
Sun Street has been offering services in Monterey County for 50 years.
