CHP: Man hit and killed family member riding scooter in Ben Lomond
UPDATE: 9/4/2018 3:08 p.m. A 7-year-old boy is dead following an accident in the Santa Cruz mountains.
According to CHP Santa Cruz, the boy was riding a scooter when he was hit by a car pulling into a driveway.
The accident happened around 2:40 p.m. Monday at 10212 Newell Creek Road in Ben Lomond.
In their preliminary report, CHP Santa Cruz said the driver was riding in a 2018 Toyota when it struck the boy riding a “stand up style” razor scooter.
The boy died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
CHP told KION the boy was from Colombia and the man who hit him was a family member.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. CHP says drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factor to this incident.
