Victim dies of injuries after shooting east of Central Park
UPDATE 9/2/18 11:04 a.m. A shooting in Salinas is now being investigated as a homicide since the victim died of his injuries.
Police responded to the shooting in the under 100 block of West Street and found 24-year-old Obed Orsonio with at least one gunshot wound.
He died in the hospital.
Officers found the suspect, 21-year-old Abran Rubio, hiding in front of a house nearby.
He was arrested, interviewed and booked into the Monterey County Jail for murder charges.
Police are still looking for a motive.
PREVIOUS STORY: Salinas Police are investigating a shooting that happened just after midnight Sunday morning.
It happened near West Street and Archer street.
When police got to the scene, they found an adult man who had a gunshot wound.
He was taken to the hospital.
