Power outage reduced to about three thousand in San Benito County

UPDATE 9/1/2018 5:05 p.m. PG&E says the power outage that started Saturday afternoon is affecting around three thousand people now.

They believe it was started by a bird hitting power lines north of Hollister.

They do not have an estimate of when it will be fully restored.

UPDATE 9/1/2018 3:42 p.m. The number of people affected by the power outage Saturday afternoon has been reduced to around 5,600.

Officials at PG&E say they do not have an exact estimate of when it will be fully restored.

They have not confirmed what caused the outage.

PREVIOUS STORY: More than 9 thousand people in San Benito county in the areas around Hollister, Tres Pinos and Pinnacles National Park are without power.

The outage started at about 2:30 Saturday afternoon.

Power is expected to be restored at around 6:30 Saturday evening.

PG&E has not released a cause yet, but say crews are on their way.
