Gang members busted for selling drugs in South Monterey County

Two gang members were arrested for being in possession of a gun and drugs with the intent to sell in south Monterey County.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office served search warrants at two homes in Soledad on Tuesday.

Investigators got a tip that suspect, Javier Efren Lino also known as “Termite” was selling drugs out of a home on West Street. When deputies arrived they said Lino tried to run out the back door but was ultimately arrested.

Deputies also went to a home on Monterey Street in search for Hector Eduardo Gomez.

A gun, narcotics and ammunition were taken from the homes.

“Lino and Gomez are both self-admitted gang members and convicted felons,” the sheriff’s office said.

Both men were booked into the Monterey County Jail on gun, gang and drugs possessed for sales charges.

“The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is committed to keeping narcotics off the streets of our communities and guns out of the hands of gang members.”
