Scotts Valley mail thief speeds from cops in stolen car
A mail thief caught in the act led Scotts Valley police on a high speed chase.
According to police, a resident on Burlwood spotted a woman in a dark SUV stealing mail from her mailbox.
The incident occurred late Tuesday night.
Officers arrived and the suspect led them on a high speed chase through Granite Creek/ Upper Navarra.
“Eventually, the suspect drove to a dead end and fled the vehicle, which was stolen from San Jose,” said SVPD.
The suspect hid inside a nearby home and was later arrested.
Officers recovered stolen mail from Burlwood and Lower Navarra. SVPD added additional charges of mail theft, felony evading, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
“SVPD wants to remind residents to call us immediately if they see suspicious activity. We were able to arrest this suspect based on one resident’s call!”
