Teen crashes car following police chase in Santa Cruz
A teen crashed his car during a police chase in Santa Cruz County, resulting in four arrests.
According to the Santa Cruz Police Department, officers responded to a possible fight between a man and woman near 2nd and Main Street.
The incident occurred around 6:40 p.m. Monday.
“One person reported the male party had a female by the throat and was pulling her into the vehicle. Another person reported the driver was assaulting the female in the car,” said Lt. Warren Barry.
The car was spotted on Ocean Street near Water Street. As an officer approached the car, the 17-year-old driver sped away towards Market Street.
The officer lost site of the car and later found it had crashed off the road near Market and Stoney Creek.

SCPD said all four people in the car left the crash site. Deputies with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office helped locate them in a nearby neighborhood.
The 17-year-old driver, 22-year-old Israel Flores, 20-year-old Alyssa Bradley and another teen girl were arrested failure to yield, hit-and-run with injury, parole hold, public intoxication and delaying a police officer.
One of the passengers was treated at the hospital for injuries from the crash.
