Monterey County Fair Encourages Community to Get Involved

The Monterey County Fairgrounds may be empty now, but in a few weeks the area will be bustling with activities. The week-long events kick off on August 31st, and preparation for it has long since begun.

The fair has become a tradition for many locals, and is looking to get more people involved this year.

CEO of the Monterey County Fairgrounds, Kelly Violini, says volunteers are essential to the fair’s success. They are looking to involve nearly 200 volunteers of all ages. Volunteers are even able to select which area they would like to work in.

As usual, the fair is expecting big crowds. Many “fan favorite” attractions will be returning, such as racing Alaskan pigs, stilt walkers, and juggling acts. Without the help of volunteers, spectacles like these would not be possible.

Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to attend a training session this Wednesday, the 15th, at 6PM. For more information, visit www.montereycountyfair.com.
