Carmel police chase reckless driver, catch him sleeping in Porsche the next day

A reckless driver led police on a high speed chase through Monterey County and ultimately got away until he decided to pull over to take a nap.

The chase began when a sgt. spotted a silver Porsche driving on the wrong side of the road on Rio Road around 12:55 a.m. Sunday.

According to Carmel By The Sea Police Officers Association, the sgt. pulled the Porsche over but as he walked towards the car, the driver, Eric Ronald Miskey sped away.

The sgt. followed Miskey into Monterey but ended the pursuit due to unsafe speeds.

On Monday, August 13, an officer with the Pacific Grove Police Department spotted Miskey sleeping in the Porsche and took him into custody.

“Miskey also had a no bail, felony warrant for a previous arrest for evading a police officer and was listed as a missing person,” said Carmel By The Sea Police Officers Association.

The registered owner of the Porsche told police Miskey took her car and refused to return it.
