Turtle tries to escape lava in water
Video from Puna, Hawaii, resident Travis Sanders shows green sea turtles struggling to escape from water that has been heated to almost-boiling temperatures by lava flow (6/3). In the video, Sanders attempts to help a turtle he saw attempting to leave the Champagne Ponds in Kapoho Bay.
The Honolulu Star Adviser reported that according to Sanders, government agencies have not taken action despite requests to help save the turtles.
