Santa Cruz Police Ranger’s home burglarized

A ranger with the Santa Cruz Police Department had his home burglarized while he and his wife were inside the house.

According to Santa Cruz PD, the burglary occurred in the 1100 block of Bay Street around 4:14 p.m. Monday.

The ranger’s wife came face to face with suspect, 34-year-old Paul Gross as he was leaving the garage.

“The suspect then raised an aluminum baseball bat above the woman’s head and threatened to hit her if she did not get out of the way,” said SCPD.

Gross rode away on a stolen bike, carrying a metal bat.

Officers responded and located Gross a couple of blocks away and took him into custody without incident.

Gross is from West Virginia. He was arrested for residential burglary and robbery.
