Salinas prepares for start of rodeo this week

We have hit big week ahead of the California Rodeo Salinas.

On Sunday, crews were prepping the rodeo grounds for the official start this Thursday.

There is the 18th Annual Professional Bull Riding Touring Pro Division, featuring some of the best cowboys in the world. The rodeo runs through Sunday.

There will also be plenty for the kids to do including a kids corral and the annual stick horse race.

A couple of Western actors will be doing rope tricks and meeting with children.

KION spoke to one kid to see what he is looking forward to.

“I like when the bulls throw the people off and then when they just put the flag and the bulls go crazy with the red flag,” he said. “And when sometimes the people have it on them. And also when the toros go after them and then when they throw them into the air.”

This is the 108th rodeo in Salinas.
