Cal Fire equipment operator dies battling Ferguson Fire
Cal Fire announced Saturday that one of their Heavy Fire Equipment Operators was killed battling a fire.
Braden Varney was helping to put out the Ferguson Fire in the Sierra National Forest.
Varney leaves behind a wife and two small children.
The fire started just after 10:30 p.m. Friday in Mariposa County.
It is currently 130 acres and 5% contained.
