Santa Cruz deputies search for wanted man after pursuit

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a wanted man near King and Sherman Streets in Santa Cruz.

Deputies tried to contact the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Sean Oliver, early Friday morning. The sheriff’s office told KION a short pursuit took place, Oliver got out of his car and took off running.

A witness told KION Oliver jumped out of the car while it was still moving and the witness jumped in the car to put it in park.

The Santa Cruz Police Department and a K-9 are assisting in the search.

In 2017, Oliver was found in possession of methamphetamine at a hotel in the 600 block of Riverside Avenue. Santa Cruz PD arrested Oliver and another suspect for using and selling drugs.

Oliver is considered reckless. Anyone who comes across Oliver is advised to stay away and call the sheriff’s office.
