Salinas man sentenced to 180 days in jail for child molestation
The Monterey County District Attorney announced Friday that a Salinas man accused of child molestation, invasion of privacy and attempted destruction of evidence has been sentenced to 180 days in county jail.
In January 2017, Ivan Rodriguez and his wife were having marital problems, so she looked through his cell phone.
On the phone, she found a video that Rodriguez took of her 12-year-old daughter naked without her knowledge as she was getting dressed in her room. The 12-year-old was his step-daughter.
Rodriguez tried to delete the video and denied having it to Salinas Police. Once they told him they had ways to find it, he confessed.
Police were able to get the video.
In addition to jail time, Rodriguez will have three years of probation and will be required to register as a lifetime sex offender.
