Family offering $1,500 dollars for puppy after he was stolen out of truck their truck in Capitola
UPDATE: A family visiting the Santa Cruz area for a weekend away had to head home without their five month old Golden Retriever after it was stolen out of the back of their truck. They are now offering a $1,500 reward to get the pup back.
The Bolger family had just finished their camping trip and stopped by the Capitola Mall Starbucks on their way home.
They left their five month old puppy, named Colt, in the bed of their truck tied up with food and water while they got coffee.
They came out 20 minutes later and he was gone. “The leash was in the back of the truck unclipped and my dog was not there,” says Patrick Bolger.
He also says, “I feel so stupid and so naive now thinking back on it, I just couldn’t understand that someone would actually steal another person’s dog.”
Bolger and a few other friends and family members came back to the area Monday to continue their search.
“I’m going to be printing out flyers, offering a reward, just going all around the city hopefully put a flyer in front of a face that can bring me and colt back together. We’re gonna keep working at this, and i think we’re going to bring him home, I really hope so,” says Bolger.
Colt is micro-chipped and does answer to his name.
Animal Shelters in the area have been alerted and Capitola Police are also looking into the case.
If you see Colt or have any information on his whereabouts you can contact the Police Department on their non-emergency line (831) 471-1141
