Monterey makes top ten list for most scenic West Coast cities
The vote is in.
Monterey claimed a top ten spot in the most scenic West Coast cities poll, which was conducted by Expedia.
The travel website asked over 1,000 Americans which West Coast cities were the most attractive to the eye.
Monterey was number 10 in the list that also included Santa Barbara and Seattle. The website mentioned the famous Monterey Pine, which gives the city its signature look.
“The weather is my favorite. I grew up here, so I’ve gotten used to it in the last 70 years. So I love it here, it’s beautiful,” said Patti Womble, a Carmel Valley resident visiting Monterey on Sunday.
“Peacefulness, the storm of the ocean and the power it presents and the beauty,” said Joshua Chasteen, a peninsula resident who was describing what reactions he has to the scenery.
San Diego and Seattle came in as number one and two on the list respectively. The Big Sur Coastline came in at number five.
