Watsonville Police hand off 87 lbs of confiscated illegal fireworks

Monday morning Watsonville Police handed over 87 lbs of confiscated illegal fireworks to Cal Fire in Felton.

Several state and local agencies take their fireworks to that location.

Cal Fire works with the State Marshall to pick up the fireworks and take them for destruction.

This Fourth of July, Watsonville police responded to 118 reports concerning fireworks between July 1 and July 5 and issued 11 firework citations during that time.

They responded to 770 calls for service as well. That is fewer than the nearly 900 last year.
