Three arrested after failed robbery attempt

Three people arrested for an attempted robbery, nearly a week and a half later.

It happened at a liquor store on the 600 block of East Alisal in Salinas. The suspects were caught by the owner, who ran through the back of the store. They shot at him, but missed, and today police say they’ve got the suspects.

“Our investigation carried on throughout this entire time. Sometimes our investigative needs require us to keep quiet about what’s going on so that we can capture our suspects. This is a good example of that. Everything progressed rather rapidly and over the course of a few days, we made three different arrests at three different locations and sometimes revealing that information early can jeopardize the investigation and quite frankly could prejudice some of the potential witnesses we might encounter,” said Salinas PD Investigations Commander John Murray.

31-year old Luciano Ramirez, 45-year old Rodney Perez, and 40-year old Orlando Perez were all booked into the Monterey County Jail. Police say they’re all known gang members.
