Central Coast Fourth of July event roundup

KION put together a list of 4th of July events for you and your family to enjoy!

Seaside will be holding its first ever fireworks show on the 4th this year. The celebration will be at Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course. The event starts at 4:30 p.m. and includes pony rides, carnival games, music, food and more.

“America’s Last Hometown”, also known as Pacific Grove, will celebrate the holiday at Caledonia Park starting at 11 a.m. The highlights include live music, a BBQ and kid-friendly activities.

There will be plenty of other Fourth of July events in Monterey throughout the day. It all starts with a 7 a.m. pancake breakfast at Fire Station #1 followed by a parade down Alvarado and Calle Principal at 10. The party will move from there to the annual lawn party at Colton Hall. The lawn party goes from 11-4:30 and includes BBQ, carnival games, music and food. After the party, Golden State Theatre will host a free concert beginning at 7 p.m.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Santa Cruz‘s Firecracker 10K race at Harvey West Park. It’s not just a 10K. There is also a 5K and a 1K for kids. The race benefits will go to the Red Cross of the Central Coast. The race starts at 8 a.m., but the 1K starts a half hour earlier.

Watsonville will host the Spirit of Watsonville 4th of July Parade. It will include antique cars, horses, tractors and fire trucks. The parade starts at 2 p.m. at Main Street and Freedom Boulevard. At Watsonville Airport, a Fire in the Sky open house starts at 5 p.m. that will include fireworks.

This year’s celebration in Scotts Valley will start with a 3 p.m. parade along Scotts Valley drive. It will be followed by games and food at Skypark Park and end with a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m.

The annual Boulder Creek Fourth of July Parade will take place on Highway 9 between Scarborough Lumber and Railroad Avenue. The event starts at 10 a.m.

The “World’s Shortest Parade” – only two city blocks! – gets marching in Aptos on Soquel Drive starting at State Park Drive and ending at Trout Gulch. The party will continue afterwards at Aptos Village Park.

Wilder Ranch State Park is hosting its own party and parade. It will be an early 1900’s style parade starting at 12 p.m. with a party afterwards featuring big-band music, history demonstrations, speeches and a flag-raising.

The 49th annual Spreckles Fourth of July Festival starts at 8 a.m. and wraps up at 4 p.m. This year. It will start with a 5K and 10K before the first car show starts. There will be local bands, food and a tribute to the military.

On Monterey Street in Hollister, there will be a parade starting at 6th and ending on San Benito Street. There will be a closing ceremony with cookies and punch in front of Veteran’s Memorial Building. Their rally was canceled this year, but bikers are still welcome to visit.
