Seaside hit-and-run suspect arrested in Monterey

UPDATE 6/29/2018 3:13 p.m. A suspect was identified in a Seaside hit-and-run that happened Thursday.

Salinas resident Carlos Lizano is believed to be responsible for the incident.

Seaside Police were called to the report of a hit and run car collision involving two injured pedestrians in the 1000 block of Fremont Blvd. The police found an adult male and female suffering from serious injuries as a result of being struck by a moving vehicle.

The investigation revealed the victims knew the suspect and police determined the car crash was intentional.

Lizano was driving a black 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4-door. Lizano was wanted by police for several felony charges; to include attempted murder.

Monterey police spotted Lizano near Del Monte and Palo Verde and arrested him Friday.

Seaside police are investigating a hit and run accident, and say it may not have been an accident at all.

Police didn’t provide details, but told KION it appears the driver of a black Jeep Grand Cherokee intentionally ran into two people outside the Burger King on Fremont Street around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

There was no immediate word on the condition of two people who were hit.

Police say the SUV likely sustained front end damage from colliding with one of the restaurant’s walls.

They are looking for a black, 2000s model Jeep Grand Cherokee. Anyone who sees the vehicle is urged to call the Seaside Police Department.

Their investigation is in its early stages, but police don’t think it was gang related.
