Seaside man sentenced to prison for sexually abusing child

A Seaside man was sentenced to six years in state prison for sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl.

According to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, 41-year-old David Cabrera-Vasquez sexually abused Jane Doe over a period of six months.

“Jane Doe initially disclosed to her mother that while Cabrera would put her to sleep at night, he would touch her vagina over her clothing,” said DA Dean Flippo.

The child’s mom initially assumed there must have been a misunderstanding; however the DA’s office said a few weeks later Jane Doe gave her mom a note that indicated she was still being abused and she needed help to make it stop.

Vasquez was sentenced on June 27 to six years in state prison for a charge of reoccurring sexual abuse of a child.
