Kayakers report sharks at Capitola beach
“Holy cow, that looks like a big fish!”
That’s how a kayaker described the great white shark he saw off New Brighton State Beach in Santa Cruz County this weekend.
The close encounter was captured on video shot by Giancarlo Thomae, who told CBS San Francisco there were up to two dozen sharks in the area, measuring up to 14 feet in length. Thomae said everyone stayed calm and no one was hurt.
Last weekend, the body of a 500 lb. great white washed ashore at the Seascape resort in Aptos.
