Cal Fire responds to fire burning near south Monterey County

UPDATE: 6/20/2018 9:46 a.m. Firefighters responded to a fire burning near south Monterey County.

According to Cal Fire BEU, crews were at the scene of a 10 acre fire on Ranchita Canyon Road and Cross Country Road, west of Parkfield.

The fire was reported around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Cal Fire called it the Ranchita Fire.

“Forward progress of the fire was stopped at 4:36 p.m. however, and the fire was declared out at 6:07 p.m. The fire burned a total of 12 acres,” said Cal Fire.

Three aircraft, one helicopter, eight fire engines, two dozers, and two hand crews were dispatched.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. There were no injuries during this incident.
