Special Father’s Day delivery to Seniors living in Salinas Care Facility

Father’s Day and Mother’s Day can be a difficult day for those living in care facilities or far away from family.

The Alliance on Aging Organization is trying to change that with their “I Remember Papa” event this Father’s Day.

On Saturday, a dozen children from the Salinas area passed out hats, donated by local agriculture companies and homemade cards made by students at Torro Elementary School to seniors living in the Sunrise Villa Salinas Homes.

Alliance on Aging says the event is “the first of its type in remembering senior men throughout the county. PAPA supports the important work of the Alliance on Aging’s Ombudsman program which advocates for the safety and care of seniors living in long-term care facilities.”

The men at the care facility say it brings smiles to their faces seeing all these young kids.

The children passing out the cards, equally as excited, “I like seeing them happy.”

Some even making new friends, “I learned that he loves all the colors in the rainbow,” says 6-year-old Ryleigh about her new friend Andy.

A total of 1,000 hats donated by local agriculture companies were passed out to 70 care facilities around Monterey County.
