Monterey resident confronts would-be armed burglar
A Monterey resident’s yell kept an armed man from getting inside the home.
According to the Monterey Police Department, the attempted burglary took place in the 400 block of English Avenue around 12:33 a.m. Monday.
The man tried to break into the home but was unsuccessful and ran after the homeowner yelled at him.
“The suspect was reported to be holding a handgun,” said Lt. Ethan Andrews
He is described as a Hispanic man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and a backpack with dark shoulder straps.
Monterey police are requesting anyone with video surveillance cameras on English Avenue that may have captured video of the man before or after the incident to contact the Police Department.
