Fire sparks off busy Santa Cruz road

A fire ignited on the grass off of Capitola Road and Soquel Avenue in Santa Cruz, Sunday evening.

Officials tell KION it happened at around 7:15 p.m. and grew to about 400 square feet.

The fire was off to the side, so no roads were closed. There was also no damage to any structures.

Crews had the fire extinguished in about 40 minutes.

The cause is unknown.
