“Cash and Rocket” event brings out big names to Monterey

Dozens of international celebrities, all women, are on a 700 mile road trip to raise money for causes close to their hearts.

Today they made a pit stop in Monterey.

Dozens of powerful women, one goal.

…To drive the change.

80 women working in fashion, film, music and activism are traveling 700 miles to raise money for charities that support women and children, all while they preach women empowerment.

It’s called the “cash and rocket” tour.

“I wanted to do something and so something different, but get the women behind the wheel and really in front and be the force of inspiring the children and women that we’re supporting,” says Founder Julie Brangstrup.

To see big names in luxury cars cruising down Monterey streets was quite the sight.

“The top down, so that’s why I had to buy my Monterey sweater and it’s been such a wild ride,” says Orange is the New Black star Jackie Cruz.

“This is my first time, that’s why I had to buy a sweatshirt and I got like a pound of candy over by the boardwalk,” says model Ashley Graham.

With the #metoo movement in the spotlight, these ladies are making sure their voices are heard, using their platforms for good, and for women from all walks of life.

Each driver raises money while on the road and 100 percent of the proceeds go toward one of three international charities, most of which aid children in poverty.

And while passionate about the cause, drivers are having fun getting the job done.

“We’re just creating change along the drive, along the coast of California and honestly one of the most fun things is being in the car with Noor,” says Graham.

“It’s a great little mix of personalities and nationalities and when you see them all together, it’s a powerful element,” says Brangstrup.

When the ladies leave here they’ll be heading to Santa Barbara then LA, and ultimately end up in Las Vegas.
