Seaside PD: Man impersonates police, takes woman’s information

A man claiming to be a police officer pulled a woman over and took her information.

The incident occurred in Seaside, around 8 p.m. Sunday.

According to the Seaside Police Department, the suspect stopped in front of the victim’s car while in traffic, exited his car and approached her.

“The subject flashed a gold star badge at the victim and placed it back in his pocket and advised her he was a Police Officer,” said authorities.

The suspect demanded the woman’s driver license. He took it back to his car and shortly after told her he would not be giving her a ticket for her tinted windows because he was off duty.

The suspect was last seen driving a blue mid 2000’s Honda Accord with tinted rear windows westbound on San Pablo Avenue from Laguna Street.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 40’s, about 5’5, with short hair wearing a dark blue jacket and dark blue pants.
