Live Oak hugging suspect ID’d and cited

UPDATE: 6/5/2018 1:13 p.m. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office identified a man wanted for hugging an 11-year-old girl from behind.

29-year-old Jesus Perez hugged a girl inside a 7-11 on 30th Avenue Saturday night.

The girls mother and 7-11 clerk chased Perez out of the store.

Deputies found Perez Tuesday morning and cited him for a misdemeanor.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the publics help in identifying a man who hugged a girl from behind inside a 7-11.

The sheriff’s office said, an 11-year-old girl was inside a 7-11 on 30th Avenue and Portola Drive in Live Oak when the suspect grabbed her.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday (6/2).

“The girl’s mother and clerk kicked the suspect out of the store and the suspect left on 30th Avenue,” said Sgt. Brian Cleveland.

Detectives were able to review surveillance video of the suspect.
