Woman uses old receipt to return stolen groceries at Marina Walmart

The Marina Police Department needs help identifying a woman they say walked into a Walmart, stole groceries and returned them with an old receipt.

The theft took place around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday (5/30) at the Marina Walmart on Beach Road.

“The suspect had entered the store with an old receipt and began to select the items from the receipt and place them in her shopping cart,” said Marina PD.

The suspect took the stolen groceries to customer service and asked for a cash refund. Store security confronted the woman as she ran out with the cash.

Marina PD described the suspect as an Asian woman between 30 to 35-years-old, 5’4, 180 lbs, long black hair, wearing gray/black shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity can contact Officer S. Mercado at smercado@cityofmarina.org.
