CHP: Highway 1 reopens following person in crisis in Capitola

The California Highway Patrol shut down all lanes of Highway 1 in Capitola for fear that a man might jump off the overpass.

CHP told KION a man was seen leaning on the overpass at Park Avenue around noon Wednesday.

Capitola PD, Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s and CHP responded to the scene.

The man was rescued from the overpass and CHP Santa Cruz reopened the lanes around 1 p.m.
